We are excited to introduce Glenn Boyer, VP of Business Development, who recently joined our team to support growth. In his interview, Glenn discusses his extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry and why he believes Phil’s approach to digital hub transformation is the best approach.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your role at Phil.

I am a Vice President of Business Development at Phil. My professional journey in the pharmaceutical space began on the pharmacy benefit management side. I started out at Medco Health, which was bought by Express Scripts. I was subsequently recruited by the founder of CoverMyMeds (CMM), which was in the start-up stage and focused on solving prior authorization challenges. These roles gave me a unique perspective on the challenges that surround prior authorization, and how companies can help address them.

At CMM, I was in a sales role and had the opportunity to partner with some of the largest pharma manufacturers in the United States. When CMM was bought out, I followed a trusted colleague to Redi.Health followed by AssistRx where my direct manager, Thomas Luby, joined Phil as current SVP Business Development. After talking to him, I ended up joining Phil as well. I’ve been working in business development in the pharma space for about 20 years and have built many meaningful relationships across the industry. I love what I do.

What drew you to Phil?

I appreciate that Phil’s approach to medication access is focused on digital hub transformation. The platform is intuitive and highly effective. I was also attracted to the company based on feedback from clients who were trying to reduce overhead and increase efficiency to help patients get access to their medications quickly and affordably. It was clear that clients are seeing strong results on PhilRx, so that was a big draw for me.

What are you looking forward to accomplishing in this role?

Phil is made up of an incredibly talented group of individuals, and I am excited about taking the company to new heights together. There's an opportunity to disrupt the model that exists right now. It's not working as efficiently or effectively as it could be, and Phil wants change that.

I've seen several companies try to enter the patient access space and lose focus on what they're trying to accomplish. We are very specific about our mission to create an alternative channel solution that improves patient access. As big pharma companies face roadblocks with one-sided solutions, we want to be the go-to digital hub that streamlines the entire process of getting patients started and staying on medication quickly, easily, and affordably.

What is the biggest challenge that you’ve encountered so far?

The biggest challenge for me has been getting up to speed quickly on the systems and processes used within Phil. I believe in our product and know it works well, it’s simply a matter of getting fully dialed in. I’ve had a few professional transitions, and I find that the most daunting task is simply learning the internal workings of each organization to do my job most effectively.

Have you had the opportunity to collaborate with your Phil colleagues from different departments? If so, how would you describe the experience?

One of the main reasons I’m here is the people. Meeting folks from different areas within Phil has confirmed my belief that I am surrounded by a powerhouse of brilliant and driven individuals who are striving toward the same goal. These interactions have been very positive for me and have affirmed my decision to join the team because I get to work with great people every day.

On a personal note, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?

My partner and I are very active. She's a fitness enthusiast, so we like to play a lot of sports, go on runs, travel, and explore new areas. I frequent the parks around Columbus, Ohio, which has a wonderful park system. I have two daughters, aged 16 and 12, and we play a lot of board games as well as tennis and pickleball.  My youngest rides horses, so I also spend a fair amount of time at the barn with her.

What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?

I want to get scuba diving certified. My partner is a master open-sea scuba diver, and we have visions of going to the British Virgin Islands and doing some sea diving.
