Meet Renee Kasun, VP of Business Development at Phil

Renee

Renee Kasun recently joined our team as Vice President of Business Development, bringing over 20+ years of sales experience. Discover how Renee plans to leverage her industry expertise to support growth at Phil.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your role at Phil.

I’m from Columbus, Ohio, and my professional background includes 20+ years in technology sales, including in data centers, managed services, and cloud services. I spent the last eight years with CoverMyMeds (CMM), working with pharmaceutical manufacturers to help support the prior authorization process.

As Vice President of Business Development at Phil, I work closely with pharmaceutical manufacturers to understand their access challenges and determine how we can most effectively streamline patient access to their therapies through our digital hub.

What inspired you to join the Phil team?

I was impressed with the technology and the people behind it. The leadership team and people who built the PhilRx platform, seeing all they’ve accomplished, truly inspired me and made me want to be a part of this forward-thinking team.

How do you think you will have the most impact in this role?

I’m just a few months in, so I am still in the learning phase. I consider myself a lifelong learner, so I’m really enjoying the process of absorbing as much as I can from the insightful team at Phil. I expect to have an impact by growing and broadening the number of pharmaceutical manufacturers we work with. I have some strong relationships with manufacturers at different levels, so I’m excited to get the PhilRx platform in front of more potential partners to help them improve patient access and brand outcomes.

What would you say is the biggest challenge you’ve faced since joining the team?

I would say the biggest challenge right now is navigating the internal environment – learning the people and how different job roles intersect, the culture, the expectations, and the operational aspects. Everyone on the team has been very helpful and supportive in getting me up to speed.

Can you share a recent project here at Phil that you’re excited about?

Several great projects are in the works. I am particularly excited to dive into supporting access to mental health therapies. Historically, we have done a lot of work in the mental health space, and there’s even more opportunity to broaden this part of Phil’s portfolio. I’m looking forward to supporting this space because I believe there are significant challenges in the mental health space in terms of getting patients access to the right medications at the right time, and I’m eager to help create meaningful change.

On a personal note, what are your favorite hobbies or interests outside of work?

I’m into running, cooking, and traveling! I am very family-oriented, but my kids are all older now. My youngest is a college volleyball player, so we like to go watch her play. In my free time, I exercise as much as possible. I have two Australian Shepherds, and they’re my babies now – I enjoy walking them and taking them places with me. I grew up and have spent my whole life in Columbus, so I have an amazing network of friends who I enjoy spending time with.

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be and why?

My family used to joke that my superpower was that I could fall asleep at any moment. When my kids were little, and I had the opportunity to go to bed early, I could say, “Okay, I’m going to sleep,” and that would be it! That was a nice superpower, but I no longer have that one. So, if I could choose a new superpower, it would be to have the ability to read minds. That would certainly give me an extra edge at navigating discussions and driving value in my role at Phil!
